XI. National Limnology Symposium

Dear Participants, Dear Scientists

We are honored and pleased to invite you to the XI. National Limnology Symposium, which will be held in Balıkesir between August 31 – September 2, 2026, hosted by Balıkesir University Institute of Science / Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, with the contributions of the Limnology Association.

It is an indisputable fact that water, an indispensable element of life, is the most important factor that will determine the future quality of life for humanity. Studies focusing on water are important for humanity, life, and science. For this reason, the importance of Limnology is increasing day by day. The aim of the symposium, which will be attended by faculty members from our universities, representatives of public institutions and organizations, and our students, is to create a high-quality and scientific discussion environment on topics such as limnological characteristics, problems, and solutions of inland waters, as in previous years, and to announce new information to the Limnology community and public institutions.

Considering the predictions that global warming is making its effects felt more and more every day and that the wetlands in our country will be among the areas most affected by global climate change, "climate, biodiversity, microplastics, sustainability" are considered as priority topics in this symposium, however all limnological studies will be evaluated in the symposium.

All accepted and presented papers will be published in the abstract proceedings, and after peer review process, they may be published in a special issue of Balıkesir University, Institute of Science Journal, depending on preference.

What the Registration Fee Includes

Registration fee (regular and student) covers the opening ceremony, access to scientific sessions, symposium bag, congress materials, refreshments (coffee breaks and lunches), welcome dinner (Monday evening, August 31), Gala dinner (Tuesday evening, September 1), and the excursion (Wednesday, September 2). Please indicate your participation in the excursion and Gala dinner during registration.

Accompanying person fee covers refreshments (coffee breaks and lunches), the opening ceremony, and the welcome party according to the official program. Accompanying persons must register and pay in advance for the excursion and Gala dinner. Children up to 15 years old will not be charged.

Only students (undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and early-stage postdoctoral (+3) researchers) may benefit from the student fee by documenting their student status.

Payment and Cancellation Terms

• On-site payment is valid only for participants who do not present (those who did not submit an abstract).
• All changes and cancellations must be notified via email to limnoloji@balikesir.edu.tr.
• Refunds will be issued after the event. Bank charges and commissions must be covered by the participant.
• The online registration system is now open and accessible via the website (https://limnology.balikesir.edu.tr/). Please register and follow up-to-date announcements.
